The Vitale Brothers are prolific muralists based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Since 1992, they’ve painted walls throughout Tampa Bay and have had a major hand in St. Petersburg becoming a world-class arts destination.
The Vitales hired their longtime friend Tes One to design this mural, keeping clean energy and an abstract flow in mind. The collaboration between these artists dates back to the first street art murals in St. Petersburg.
Their artistic flair enhances Duke Energy’s electric vehicle charging stations installed in 2020 in the parking garage shared by the Duke Energy Center for the Arts – Mahaffey Theater and the neighboring Salvador Dalí Museum. It is located at 400 1st St. South in downtown St. Petersburg.
The design in shades of blues and greens with splashes of purple and gold is a nod to this city on the Gulf of Mexico. The cool tones of the colorful mural splash across the gray concrete of the parking structure, stretching 20 feet high and 80 feet wide, and surrounding five functional level-2 electric vehicle charging stations.
The mural, completed in February 2021, is part of Duke Energy’s sustainability focus and celebrates the company’s commitment to the arts and the community. Duke Energy is supporting smarter, cleaner transportation in Florida by adopting and promoting electric vehicle use and installing EV charging stations.
But electric vehicle charging stations don’t need to be boring. The Vitale Brothers have put the creative spark into Duke Energy’s EV charging stations at the Mahaffey Theater. The charging stations are easily accessible by visitors to the theater and other nearby sites, such as the Dali Museum. Learn more about Duke Energy’s EV commitment at duke-energy.com.
