Presented by: American Stage

Location: Raymond James Theatre at American Stage, 163 3rd St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33701

A story about doubt, faith, and history in the making.

It’s April 3, 1968, and you're in Room 306 of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. It's the final night in the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and things are about to get real. In "The Mountaintop," see Dr. King as you've never seen him before as he reflects on his life, struggles, and hopes for the future. But he's not alone—enter Camae, the sassy and mysterious hotel maid with a lot to say. Through poignant dialogue and powerful monologues, "The Mountaintop" offers a humanizing portrayal of King, revealing the man behind the myth and highlighting the complexities of his life and work.

Location: freeFall Theatre, 6099 Central Ave, St. Petersburg, FL 33710

Five teen girls like their boyfriends — except for one thing: they like country music, the way they dress, their childish antics, their lack of commitment, and their flirting with every girl who comes by. What are these girls to do? They all set out to change their boyfriends for the better. But can you really change somebody? The answers the girls get are not always what they want to hear. ThinkTank and freeFall once again partner on this exciting developmental project for youth theatre. Award-winning playwright James Rayfield adapts his popular play for young performers for the musical stage with a new, energetic score by composer Terry Farley. See this workshop of a new musical intended to be performed in the high school setting by young performers as it is prepared for its upcoming publication.
