Glenyse Thompson is a Florida-based multidisciplinary artist whose work spans contemporary original art and design. Inspired by people and conversations, her artwork combines vibrant use of colors and textures, conveying the exuberant connections we have with each other and our environments.

Her art practice has everything to do with how we interact daily. “Conversation is something we would miss if not happening, yet we rarely stop to think how much value we should place on it. We are nothing without each other, we are nothing without conversation.”

She collaborated with Laura Hodge Designs to create artwork for the 2023 Southern Living Idea Home and her work was featured in the September issue of Southern Living Magazine. Her artwork was shown in the April 2023 issue of Architectural Digest, “In Focus: Legacy of Black Women Makers”. Home décor firm Brewster Wallcoverings collaborated on a capsule collection, A-Street Prints x Glenyse Thompson Wall Mural Collection.

As part of Cheryl Umbles “The Welcome Space” for Black Artists and Designers Guild — Obsidian Experience, her artwork was featured in Town and Country Magazine and included in Elle Decoration UK, Metropolis Magazine, California Design and Home, Houzz, Hunker, Design Milk and Aspire Home and Design.

Glenyse was interviewed for Martha Stewart Magazine, Design Milk “Milkshake” series, and she appeared as a featured artist for WEDU Arts Plus, a nationally syndicated television program on PBS. She is a Haystack Fellow and is a Gobioff Foundation Grant Recipient.

Her artwork is in the collection of Boston Children’s Hospital. Exhibition history includes Many Americas: Art Meets History, Southern Vermont Arts Center; The Other Art Show-Saatchi Art; Beyond the Mask: Storytelling in Black Art + Design, Plant Seven, High Point Market; Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series; PaperWest-National Works on Paper, Gittens Gallery.
