As visual artist Beth Kokol explains, "Nature's forces, both calm and chaotic, have long been the foundation of my work. I reference this organic energy with colors, marks and textures I use to create my compositions. My paintings at times can be still and quiet. At other times, they evoke energy and turbulence.

"I work with paint pigments combined with a range of mediums to create different viscosities from very liquid to extremely thick. I pour, squeeze, brush, drip, fling and smear layers of paint, often waiting days for each layer to dry before moving on. This very fluid foundation allows me to use glazing techniques as well as feature brush marks and palette knife work. At times I squeeze heavy paint right out of directly from the tube, using it as a drawing tool to create strong lines and defined movements."
