Charlene A. Harrison

Operations Director

Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Charlene Harrison has always believed that meaningful work is about serving others and leaving every organization stronger than she found it. Throughout her career, she has been driven by a passion for helping nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations build the structure, relationships, and resources they need to make a lasting impact.

Charlene's professional journey began in the background screening industry, where she spent more than 16 years working with companies to create and implement customized background screening applications and hiring workflows. She trained clients in screening processes, onboarding procedures, and system functionality, helping them successfully integrate background screening into their hiring practices. That experience helped develop her strengths in project management, client relationships, compliance, training, and problem-solving, which she continues to use every day.

She was later introduced to the nonprofit sector, where she combines her business experience with a passion for community service. Today, she serves as Operations Director for the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, supporting the organization's operations and helping advance programs that enrich the community through the arts. She is especially passionate about creating opportunities for artists, strengthening nonprofit organizations, and building partnerships that make a lasting difference.

A lifelong learner, Charlene earned degrees in Business Administration and Human Resource Management and completed the SHRM Essentials of HR program. She believes leadership is less about titles and more about serving others with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Service has always been an important part of Charlene's life. She is a graduate of the Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program and continues to give back by mentoring future leadership classes. She also served on the City of Clearwater Public Art and Design Advisory Board, is the Administrator for Hazley Music School, Inc., and serves as Director of Operations and Concert Committee Chair for the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association. Through these roles, she enjoys supporting arts education, preserving jazz, mentoring future leaders, and helping strengthen the communities she serves.

Above all, Charlene is a proud mother of two and grandmother of eight. She is especially proud that two of her grandchildren serve in the United States military. Whether supporting an organization behind the scenes or volunteering in the community, Charlene believes that lasting impact comes from helping others succeed and leaving every place a little better than she found it.
