Movement, the Arts and Mindfulness
Thursday, September 19
8:00 to 9:30 a.m.
St. Petersburg Greenhouse
440 2nd Avenue North
downtown St Pete
On September 19, the St Pete Arts Alliance will host its second Arts Leadership Forum, focusing on growth, recognition and improved revenue for leaders in the cultural and nonprofit sectors of the St. Petersburg economic market.
Relaxation for the Active Mind: Movement, the Arts and Mindfulness will be the topic for featured speaker Danielle DeCosmos. Discussing the physical “fight or flight” response to stress, she uses music, movement and mindfulness to combat the harmful effects that stress has on the human mind and body.
The Florida native’s first album, Heavy is the Heart, was voted by the Tampa Bay Times as among the year’s best. Her songs depict and relate to everyone sharing the universal experience of being “human.”
Performing professionally since she was eight years old, the last decade has seen Danielle perform live concerts and play therapeutic music at the bedsides of hospital patients.
Recently, as Program Director for Integrative Arts in Medicine at Tampa General Hospital, she created and leads workshops for physicians and staff, focusing on burnout prevention and stress management, using her techniques to restore balance and harmony in the mind and body.
Danielle has been expanding this work to include resilience building, burnout prevention and overall enhancement of life. She continues to write and perform uplifting music in the concert setting, incorporating moving stories from hospital patients and life lessons learned from her experiences.
Tickets are $10. Free for St. Pete Arts Alliance members.
