Cheers to the Artist Enclave Historic Kenwood for the eye-catching way they’re spreading the word about the artists in this vibrant neighborhood — using images by member artists to decorate the finials above the street signs you see as you walk or drive by.
Kenwood and the Old Southeast neighborhoods were each declared an “Artist Enclave” by the St. Pete City Council in 2014. This enables artists living there to teach classes and sell artwork from their homes.
Kenwood is located between 1st Avenue North and 9th Avenue North, and between 19th Street North and 34th Street North — with artist images displayed throughout, on city street signs.
Here’s a map you can use to explore. Featured artists include Mike Baker, Paul Barrera, Sallie Hackett Brown, William Bryant, YaeL Kelley, Janna Kennedy, Rich Pollin, Dwayne Shepherd and Mike Toth, all based in Kenwood.
