SUMMARY:Peonies in Winter: The Long-awaited Works of Nate Jessup
DESCRIPTION:In the mid 1960s\, Nate Jessup earned two Ivy League art degrees\, fully intending to become a practicing professional artist. But the life of a New York gallery artist at the time seemed to him to be at odds with the very act of creating\, so he walked away\, earning his living by other means while he painted in relative obscurity to satisfy his own artistic vision. \nFans of abstract expressionism and the New York School will particularly enjoy this exhibition\, which includes dynamic abstracted figuration highly suggestive of Willem de Kooning\, exquisitely quiet color field works reminiscent of Clyfford Still\, and more. \nNow 83 and still actively painting\, Jessup’s first real gallery exhibition features an exquisite selection of masterful works that span decades of artistic expression and longing.

SUMMARY:L I V (I N) G Estuary
DESCRIPTION:A Solo Exhibition Created and Curated by\nAshley Rivers | The Nature of Fire \nShowing at the Tully-Levine Gallery in the ArtXchange\nFrom June 6th – 27th\n515 22nd Street South\, St Petersburg\, Fl 33712 \nExhibition Event Timeline\nOpening Event: June 6th from 3:30-5p\nArtWalk: June 13th from 5-9p\nClosing Event & Artificial Oyster Pot Community Creation Event:\nFacilitated in collaboration with Non-Profit: Oyster River Ecology\, on June 27th from 3:30-5p and Free to the public for all ages. \nAn estuary is a point of convergence- it is the space between\, where freshwater rivers and salty ocean waters merge. This point\, where the union of different elements and organisms come together to meet at a single point- where adaption and growth occurs\, and the life of our special little oysters grows- indicates and symbolizes the very setting this exhibition is meant to be portrayed in. \nThis collection is directly influenced by the oyster shell and its deep\, layered\, and detailed ridges. Created through a combination of growth\, environmental factors\, and the deposition of materials\, the ridges of the oyster shell act as a metaphor following my artistic identity and experiences lived. \nThe art is intended to achieve an inspiring and transformational impact on those who experience it by sharing the importance of not only restorative efforts of personal growth\, but the importance of restorative efforts on/for the environment. \nThis exhibition is the space between. \n_______________\nThank you to the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance for the 2025 Individual Artist Grant that is assisting in making this project happen!

SUMMARY:Watershed Stories
DESCRIPTION:Step into the sound of water. \nJoin us for a one-of-a-kind Watershed Stories Workshop\, a free\, three-hour immersive experience\, open to people of all ages\, where Tampa Bay becomes more than a place; it becomes something you can hear\, feel\, and express.\nJust drop in for a few minutes between 10 AM and 1 PM and experience the fun! \nThrough a collaboration with the USF Crescendo Project\, you’ll experience the changing waters of Tampa Bay translated into music—data transformed into sound\, science into sensation. Let the rhythms\, tones\, and currents guide you into a deeper connection with the waters that shape our region. \nFrom there\, we turn inward. \nYou’ll be invited to reflect on your own experiences with water—memories\, emotions\, moments of connection—and capture them in your own words. If you choose\, your story can become part of a growing Water Experience Archive at the University of South Florida Library\, preserving community voices alongside the evolving story of our watershed. \nWe’ll guide you in shaping those experiences into stories you can share—simple\, powerful techniques to bring your moments to life for others. \nAnd for those who feel the spark…\nYou’ll have the chance to enter a drawing for an extraordinary opportunity: three months of professional storytelling coaching\, culminating in a live community concert performance in late October\, where you can share your story with friends\, neighbors\, and fellow storytellers. \nThis is not just a workshop.\nIt’s an invitation to listen differently\, to remember more deeply\, and to become part of a living story—one that flows through all of us. \nCome wade in. \nUpcoming Watershed Stories Workshops (Free\, all ages)\nCamp Bayou Outdoor Learning Center – Saturday\, May 2\, 2026\, 10 am–1 pm\nBrooker Creek Preserve – Saturday\, May 30\, 2026\, 10 am–1 pm\nWeedon Island Preserve – Saturday\, June 13\, 2026\, 10 am–1 pm \nPre-registration is suggested (to help us plan materials)\, but walk-ins are warmly welcome.
