Call for Photographers

Deadline: March 4
Early Bird Entry Deadline: February 11

The largest public photo exhibition in North America will return to Sarasota in the Fall of 2019, with a showcase for regional photographers.

The Gulf Coast Photographers Showcase is accepting submissions for The Fence Sarasota 2019, by photographers in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee, Collier and Monroe counties.

Submissions for both the main and regional exhibits are open through March 4 at fence. photoville.com. An early-bird $35 special runs for 3 weeks. The jury process runs from March 25-April 22.

The Fence is a large-scale traveling exhibition that draws more than 8 million visitors each year through open-air exhibitions in nine hosting cities – Boston, Atlanta, Denver, Brooklyn, Calgary, Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles and Sarasota.

The Fence provides what organizers call “unprecedented exposure and career opportunities to participating photographers,” while providing free access to powerful photographic narratives for a wide, diverse audience.  Each photo series is comprised of up to five images that share a thematic connection or tell a story.

Photographers of all levels are invited to submit work for consideration by a jury of photography professionals from around the globe. The submitted work should fit one or more of seven thematic categories: Home, Streets, People, Creatures, Nature, Play and Food.

United Photo Industries is an 8-year-old New York-based nonprofit that works to promote a wider understanding of, and increased access to, the art of photography. The Fence was conceived and produced by United Photo Industries and was developed in partnership with Photo District News in 2011. It was presented for the first time in 2012 in Brooklyn Bridge Park and has since grown through a series of partnerships with like-minded cultural organizations across the United States.
