An Exciting ArtWalk on June 9

As ever, Second Saturday ArtWalk is a vibrant monthly celebration when galleries and studios stay open late and welcome adventurous visitors.

On Saturday, June 9 from 5-9 p.m. ArtWalk features a number of special events.

The ArtsXchange in the Warehouse Arts District is hosting a solo exhibit that combines the visual and the edible arts with St. Pete-based, Cuban-born artist, Ernesto Piloto-Marquez.

Ernesto Piloto‘s newest body of work challenges viewers to question the boundaries of traditional arts and culinary arts, and consider the intersection of the two.

He transforms ingredients into artwork that stimulates not only the intellect but the senses. Themes such as emotions, perception, philosophy and communication play key roles in his work.

Piloto states that his work allows viewers to reflect on, “how we create a new evolutionary context and the language of social communication, developing a global interaction with a new perceptual world of critical thinking.”

Artist talk at 7 pm, along with an announcement of upcoming Art-Food Performance Dinners in June.

And while you’re at the ArtsXchange during ArtWalk, you can browse the studios of 25 working artists in disciplines ranging from painting, jewelry making, journalism, sculpture, photography and more.

And during ArtWalk, the Leslie Curran Gallery hosts, “ONE! TWO! MANY!. . . If you never did, you should.
Buying art is fun, and fun is good!”

Much-loved works owned by local collectors are back on the market. Highlights include iconic works from some of the most recognized artists in the region. Many haven’t been on public view for decades, including great examples from the early careers of well-established artists.

All works are available for purchase. The exhibition will be on view May 29 – July 7.
